Dear person:
Relationships are one of the most important things in people’s life, because human living beings’ are naturally social beings. For that reason it’s important to learn how to get along with other people, and in this case the issue it’s related with getting along with people from other countries. However, it’s not so easy, especially because living abroad or knowing people form other places, implies other ideas, points of views, cultures, attitudes, etc; situations that can contrast with daily life.

On the other hand, Globalization usually is related only with political, economical, and technological topics, but it is a reality that people should analyze and consider, because affect all of us and our way of getting along with people different from us.

In that way, getting along with people can be one of the toughest challenges on this planet. People are unpredictable. Some people even bite. Some of us can easily handle the stress from dealing with many people, but others of us may find it a cumbersome challenge. So here are some advices on getting along with those people from other countries:

As a matter of fact, be friendly to all in all in your relationships with others. If you want to be well liked by most people, you simply have to be friendly with all. Engaging in a continual effort to be friendly towards all in whatever situation and at whatever time will eventually win you much respect, but it does take time. This is not to say you should fake your friendliness. Your sincerity should be coming from within your soul.

Other thing is to try your best and move on in all relationships. Sometimes, someone may still not like you. It may, in fact, have nothing to do with you at all. If it happens, try to search and to look for information about something you don’t know about the country or customs out there, in order to know what behaviours are not just accepted by others; or just answer what’s wrong. So, if you have given your best shot, do not dwell on it. Move on. If he does not want to be your friend or be supportive of you, let it be.

Also communicate assertively with other people. Generally, the assertive style type of behaviour is most favoured when dealing with people in your relationships. Furthermore, be permissive. Let others have their way sometimes. Of course, if you really believe in something, you should try to persuade them to your viewpoint. However, if it's a minor issue, just let others have their way. If they want to leave their container in the refrigerator and it is not really bothering you, you should just let them have their way. It is also good for your health to not rant about everything, but just to take it easy. Other people may even have a reason for doing what they did.

CULTURE SHOCK

During the history, the persons have developed a few characteristics and innate skills to be related and to form in society. Nevertheless, it is notable to admit that certain facts (wars, poverty, exchanges, etc) have provoked immigrations that can reflect good or bad experiences in the persons, therefore to establish the following plan of life in another culture only is experienced on having lived through it, which produces what we usually call as “culture shock”.

The culture shock (of moving to a foreign country) often consists of distinct phases: honeymoon, negotiation, everything is OK, and reverse culture shock.

First of all, the phase honeymoon announces abroad those differences between the cultures (his native culture and the actually culture) it is possible that at first it is considered to be slightly interesting, wonderful and new. For example, those persons who move to other countries for motives of study or work, which can go so far as to be astonished at new food, habits, constructions and customs.

Secondly, the phase of negotiation is when the persons begin to attend some cultural differences but likewise he begins to accept them and take the same way of life of other persons, nevertheless the foreigners can admit that there exist certain things that irritate his life style, for example, personalities, the flavor of the food or of some plates, etc.

Later, continues the period call as "Everything is well ", in this phase the immigrants get accustomed in the style of life of the persons, develop routines that allow to favor their own life style. In this moment the person familiarizes herself so much with the culture that already does not consider her to be different or foreign and feels that this is his original culture. Nevertheless it is important to clarify that this process can last days, weeks or months; the change depends of the person.

Finally this the period of Reverse culture shock, where the immigrants return to his hearths going so far as to produce new customs to his country or native region. However, another two particular cases can exist: the first one of them is that the person live so comfortable in this new country that decides to remain to living temporarily, on the contrary, through the second case it shows that the person never felt comfortable in this country and therefore it never came to the previous phases and has decided to return to his native country.

In conclusion, it is necessary to know all those aspects that can go so far as to generate changes in the style of a person when this one decides to realize a change of life of this type, but also it is important to admit that the life is acquired by the experience, and a cultural change will never be equal for two persons, then, it is necessary to bear in mind that the cultural shock just will be demonstrated when the experience is lived, not when it is planned.
